Roberto Merhi joins the world of Sim Racing with NWS eSports

4 mayo, 2020

Roberto Merhi, former Manor F1 driver, begins his career in Simracing alongside NorthWsim and NWS eSports.

After several years in karting, Roberto made his single-seaters debute in 2006 in the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 Winter Series. In the following years he raced in several Formula Renault 2.0 championships as well as other disciplines, such as F3, DTM or the Renault World Series. Categories in which he obtained several titles and multiple wins and podiums. Finally, in 2015, he joined Formula 1 as the starting driver for Manor.

After leaving Formula 1, he raced in the 2016’s edition of the 24h LeMans, also with Manor, in the LMP2 category. Later he disputed single sporadic races of the Formula 2 championship and, in 2019, he raced in the Asian LeMans Series.

Currently, «Teto» is a development driver for an F1 team. He works in the simulator and he sometimes carries out some tests. Regarding his arrival at the team, he tells us: «All of this is a bit new for me because I’ve never competed in Simracing and it could take me a bit of time to adapt and understand all of its aspects».

«Two years ago I met Jon Elgezabal in Madrid, and then we started talking about virtual races. Now we are going to start a serious relationship within Simracing and I’m positive I can help achieve great results as we work together»

This has been possible thanks to drive&win, the Spanish insurer for yound drivers, who will support Roberto in this new stage. His car will also feature Thrustmaster, Motorsport and NorthWsim. Drive&win´s arrival encourages and motivates us to keep working and doing our best every day in order to keep growing in our Simracing adventure.

We are very happy to start this new stage. Stage which we hope will be very successful.
